
Infrastructure Financing
Loan Program
NADB can make loans to public and private borrowers, at market and low-interest rates, for the implementation of environmental infrastructure projects located in the U.S.-Mexico border region. Loans are available for the implementation of projects in all environmental sectors in which the NADB operates.
Border Environment Infrastructure Fund (BEIF)
Funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this program offers grant financing exclusively for the implementation of municipal drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects located within 100 kilometers of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Solid Waste Environmental Program (SWEP)
Funded with NADB retained earnings, this pilot program offers grant financing for the implementation of municipal solid waste projects located in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
Water Conservation Investment Fund (WCIF)
Funded with US$80 million in NADB retained earnings, this program provides grant financing for the implementation of infrastructure projects specifically designed to maximize water savings by increasing water efficiency. At present, all WCIF grant funds have been fully allocated, and no additional funding is available.
Technical Assistance
& Training
Technical Assistance Program (TAP)
This grant program is designed to help project sponsors
strengthen their financial performance and ensure the long-term sustainability
of their infrastructure through studies related to project planning and design,
as well as for capacity-building measures aimed at achieving effective and
efficient operation of public services. The current program was created in April
2009 by merging the Institutional Development Cooperation Program (IDP) and the
Project Development Program (PDP) into a single program.
Utility Management Institute (UMI)
This training program offers an annual series of seminars aimed at providing practical instruction in the financial administration and planning of water utilities.
